Work Weekend is coming up soon. Clear your calendars for the last weekend in April. April 23-23. You need to let HOncho/ Gunkin know you are coming. NOt sure what the project(s) might be yet. No matter, it's not your skills that are needed, its your capacity to goof off and tell stories. Usually the fun begins at dinner on Friday. Early arrivers are likely to be by the ADMIN building doing a refresher in Creek Extravaganza.

2010 Camp McCall Registration Information

Who can come to Camp McCall?

There are three types of camp sessions at McCall. LAD Camp is a 3-day, 2-night camp for boys who were in 1st – 3rd grade during the prior school year. Adult leaders from the boy’s church or home accompany LADs to assist them in their camping experience (at least one adult leader, 18 years or older, for every five campers in the group.) Crusader/Challenger Camp is a 5-day, 4-night camp for boys who were in 4th-12th grade during the prior school year. (Campers are then organized by age-appropriate peer groups.) Recreation Adventure Camp is a 5-day, 4-night camp for young men who are 14 and older.

How much does it cost?

LAD Camp - $100.00
Crusader/Challenger Camp - $225.00
Recreation Adventure Camp - $250.00
* We make our camps much more affordable than camps at other places so that more boys will be able to participate. Cost of camp session includes all meals and recreation equipment.

How do we register for Camp?

Complete the reservation forms enclosed in this packet, duplicating any additional forms you may need. Be sure to follow all the instructions for each form. (Make copies of each completed form for your records.) Make checks or money orders payable to Camp McCall.

Submit your completed reservation forms (with payment) online or via mail. Complete online reservations at www.scbaptist.org/campmccall. Send mail reservations to: Camp McCall, South Carolina Baptist Convention, 190 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, SC 29210-8254. No phone reservations will be accepted, but if you have questions, feel free to call us at 1.800.723.7242 or 803.765.0030 ext. 3401.

Monday, March 15 is the first day that reservations will be accepted. Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

New Camp DAtes are coming soon. Registration for camp begins March 15.

ALso, If memory serves and the yahoo group info is correct...Waldoe volunteered to put together a directory of FOM folks, their businesses or services offered to allow others in the brotherhood to seek out professional help (we all need that, just varied kinds). Waldoe - if you are out there - I would be glad to but that info up at the web site as well.

Shoot The Bull Weekend - October 23-24

Shoot the Bull - from the Urban dictionary - 1 - To talk about something without giving much importance to it. Talk amiably 2 - To lie and exagerate
1- I had some time to burn so I decided to shoot the bull for a while with my dad before i left.

Show up - Stay up - Don't Shut up - Eat Big Nasty and try not to throw up - Break into the canteen and drink 7 up - Git up - Go Home!

Sound like fun? First ever STB weekend for FOM, former staffer, people with nothing else to do and people that ride mopeds.

Seriously - it will be a lot of fun to share stories and not work on purpose. It's $25 for food Friday and Saturday. Honcho needs to know you are coming. Or just call Barney (He's thinks he's responsible!).

50th Anniversay Schedule

McCall Family,

It is with great anticipation that we finalize our plans for the upcoming 50th Anniversary Celebration of Camp McCall. It is gearing up to be a very energetic time of fellowship, and we hope that the plans we have in store will allow you and your family the opportunity to enjoy a full day at the greatest place on earth.

The schedule for the 50th Anniversary Celebration is as follows:

10:00 a.m. – Sign-In
Store, Craft Hut, Morning Activities Open
11:00 a.m. - Friends of McCall Annual Meeting (30 minutes) - Pageant Area
or Activities Building
12:00 p.m. – Lunch
2:00 p.m. – Celebration Service
3:30 p.m. – Store, Craft Hut, Afternoon Activities Open

As of today, over 500 people have notified us of their plans to attend the celebration. If you have not responded and are planning on attending this great commemoration, please RSVP via the Camp McCall website (www.scbaptist.org/campmccall) as soon as possible so that we can further accommodate the growing crowd.

One final note: If you have any artifacts, memorabilia, or photographs that you would like to share with the McCall Family on this day, please feel free to bring them with you. We will have a display room where others can view these prized pieces of history. Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you next Saturday! Former Staff Return In Force

The two lad camps this week were unprecedented in numbers of fomer staff and sons.

first session hosted Kooter and Skwar.

second session hosted Hawg, Hush, Kermit, OP, Pinto, Barney, Hoover, Skaggs. My apologies to any who are missing.

Here is a piture OP took of seveal of the staff kiddos. You get to pick the staffer who goes with the kid. Your options are: Hush, Kermit, Skaggs, Pinto and OP.

We certainly need your gifts and membership to continue to provide scholarships and resources to enhance camp. we are still paying for the fencing project and have a few other things on the burner that we hope to unveil at the 50th.

Work Weekend

Much more laughs were to be heard than work actually done...but then that is no suprize to anyone. Amoung the accomplishments were fencing up, around and through the rifle range. Birt is correct when we brag that our side of the fence looked much better than Honcho's. But in all fairness we did have Wookie and honcho had erknee and made kooter split time back and forth so we had equal Kooterness. Also we laid block on the entrance sign, ate almost everything in the cooler and at Gunkin's, made friends with current and new staff, were sad Harry Baker did not show up on Saturday and mutally agreed that whatever we did do it would likely have been done different and/ or better if Hawg, OP or Barney had managed to show up. Likely just different.

Erknee is promising a newsletter. we'll see.

t-minus 2 days and counting to workweekend. so far a good many have made arrangements to be there for Saturday. you are welcome Friday night, dinner is available and we are all sleeping on the floating dock (it has air conditioning). If you have not let someone know you are coming - let someone know you are coming.

Honcho is going to "let" us do some work on April 24-25. I have heard about some sort of fencing project. And no that is not fencing as in waving pointy sword-type things at one another. I think it is fencing the new rifle range. I am sure there will be many other things on the Honcho honey do list. See you there.

Prayer for Camp

According to my calculations, pre camp should begin in about 10 weeks. Let's start praying for the staff now. That God uses them in a huge way. That they walk away from the summer encouraged and "bigger" in God than they were before.

Mission Trip

Barney just shared with me plans for McCall to send a staffer out to the camp we are working with in South Dakota this summer. Also there are plans for an end of summer trip with some current staff and fomer staff and FOM folks. Likely early to mid August. The flight is relatively cheap ($350-ish), plus a few necessities. Start praying about how you can be involved.

Hey - the site is officially up. Please leave comments as to how we can improve the site. Hopefully, we can add an online giving component soon. Don't forget that work weekend is the last weekend in April (24-25). Show up early on Friday so that we can get less done. I think Barney said we were doing some sort of fencing project. Call Eddie to let him know you are coming that weekend.

In a short four months hundreds of boys will be getting geared up for summer camp. Unfourtunately in order for this to be a reality some of these guys they will need support from you to pay their scholarship. Would you begin praying about partnering with us in order to bless them.
